ABRASIVE WHEELS (1 DAY)

This course is for those working with Abrasive wheels. It is a legal requirement that those involved in the mounting of wheels should receive suitable and sufficient training. This course is designed to meet this requirement.

The course is suitable for anyone who works with abrasive wheels and is essential for anyone involved in the checking, dressing or replacement of wheels. No prior knowledge is assumed.

The course covers the following;

  • Common causes of accidents and accident statistics
  • HSWA(1974) and PUWER (1998) and how they effect abrasive wheel use
  • The different types of abrasive wheels available
  • The markings and safety information on abrasive wheels
  • The reasons that abrasive wheels can burst and how it can be stopped.
  • The different types of tools and how to perform a daily check for safety
  • How does Hand Arm Vibration effect the body
  • Common causes of dermatitis and how it can be avoided
  • How fires can be started and what precautions are needed for prevention
  • Common causes of accidents when using diamond cutting wheels
  • How to perform a daily inspection on diamond cutting wheels
  • What the safety markings and direction of travel means
  • The importance of eye protection when using
  • abrasive wheels
  • What is appropriate PPE when using abrasive
