Foundation Studies

Foundation Studies are full time courses that cater for learners that can study at entry 3 and level 1. These courses support young people toward further training and employment and have proved to be very popular with learners not yet ready for the job market.

The focused support and guidance on the Foundation Studies give the learners a real chance of succeeding in their quest for employment.

Functional Skills

All students attending vocational and apprenticeship courses will be required to study functional skills at the appropriate level. These studies will be in Math’s, English and in some circumstances Information Communication Technology (ICT). Functional Skills are qualifications in their own right at their are no current prior qualification exemptions to functional Skills.

Functional Skills strengthen and bring consistency to all learning routes for young people to ensure that they achieve a firm foundation in the basics of English, Maths and ICT.

Functional Skills have been developed to strengthen and bring consistency to all learning routes for young people to ensure that they achieve a firm grounding in the basics of English, Maths and ICT. This supports the learners to operate confidently once they have entered the job market. LCTVE are fully committed to support the drive to improve the skills of this country’s emerging workforce through its delivery of Functional Skills.
